Final Assignment
COURSEWORK- Due 21st October

Final Assignment – Action Sequence

  1. Download the action sequence footage from the tutorial website (available here).

  2. Create a new folder on your desktop and name it appropriately.

  3. Bring your footage into Davinci Resolve and organise it into Bins. You might choose to make a bin for ‘Footage’, ‘Music’ and ‘Sound Effects,’ or you might choose to organise the footage by scenes. It’s up to you.

  4. Using the Edit tab, edit your footage together how you wish. Remember to make sure your audio doesn’t peak when you add on other sounds.

  5. Colour correct your footage and complete any final tweaks, including any titles and effects.

  6. Export your project with the following settings.
    Preset: Youtube 1080p
    Name: ActionSequenceFinal

  7. Upload your video to Youtube and embed it into a new WordPress blog post.

IMPORTANT: You must screenshot your process as you go. This demonstrates HOW you have done the work you’ve done, and is an important part of your marking process. Just posting your finished work will not allow you to obtain more than a Pass grade, regardless of the quality. Remember to use your previous feedback to improve this final blog post.

To obtain a PASS: You will successfully edit the action sequence and create a very simple blog. Your level of detail will be small and you won’t explore some of the more advanced features inside of Davinci Resolve.

To obtain a MERIT: You will create a good quality edit, with few mistakes. Your project will be professionally organised and you will demonstrate a good understanding of a professional editing workflow. Your blog will show your step-by-step processes with a good level of explanation.

To obtain a DISTINCTION: You will demonstrate excellent competence with the software and your workflow and organisation will be to a professional standard. Your blog entry will be detailed, and you won’t just show what you did, but will explain why you made those choices and what you hoped to achieve. You will competently demonstrate use of advanced features such as keyframes, colour grading and titles. Your finished sequence will be effective at hooking an audience’s attention.
