Activism and Protest Installation

UNIT DEADLINE 11 DECEMBER 2020

This project starting points will be focusing on Dance Performance, Installation Art, Performance Art, Dance for Camera. You will be developing a piece of work that looks at today’s society, its politics and its struggles. You will create a piece that directly responds to your own interests within this area. Students will create a proposal that discusses their ideas and inspiration for their project. You will then be required to develop this project collaboratively with the media students culminating in an installation performance project at the end of term 1.

For this project your tutor will deliver various lectures, seminars and workshops that focus on the development of your project. Sessions will also include media related workshops, such as; filming, editing and presentation. You will look at different frameworks of analysis that will develop and deepen your understanding of the context of the work you are making.

Over the next few weeks you will be introduced to many different choreographic works on video and live performance and installation art. You will be encouraged to discuss, debate and analyse these with your peers. You will be required to research the topic that you want your installation to be reflective of and show a clear understanding of the context and themes behind the work.
